“An individual dies when he ceases to be surprised.” -Abraham Joshua Heschel

I find myself attracted to the margins. To what I missed seeing - the wonder, the awe, the surprise in ordinary places. My photography is an invitation to see through my eyes rather than through my thoughts in the philosophical tradition of phenomenology and is influenced by the contemplative visions at the heart of all great religious traditions. Use the links below to explore the work through my eyes.

Painting With Wind

My latest work explores time and perception through wind painting.

Painting With Wind is the name for this series, but the word “painting” is deceptive. There is no actual pigment added to the photograph. The process is allowing the camera and time to create the painted effect. In this section you see the small original photo alongside the wind-painted version.

Seeing As In A Mirror

“Try to stop thinking and simply to be… totally present to what is reaching you through your senses”

Through A Glass Dimly

For now we see in a mirror, dimly…but then I shall know just as I also am known.
